Alaska Drivers: Effect of New York Traffic Ticket Convictions

by Seth Azria on 1/16/2023

If you receive a traffic conviction in New York State, Alaska will be notified of the office as both states are members of the Driver License Compact.

Once notified, Alaska may record the conviction and assess points against your Alaska license according to the Alaska point system.

Points added to your driving record Including offenses such as:

Reckless driving……………………………..10 points
Driving under suspension/revocation……..10 points
Refusal to provide a breath sample……….10 points
Speeding 10-19 miles over the limit………..4 points

If you are an Alaska Driver and want to obtain a copy of your driving record, you may do so here.

Insurance Premium Increases are Still a Concern
Most importantly, it is likely your insurance company will learn of your New York conviction and may increase your premiums or drop coverage. It remains important to mitigate the charge as much as possible.

I was issued a speeding ticket in an area that I was unfamiliar with. We researched the law firms to help with reducing the charge of my ticket, since I had never received a speeding ticket before. The professionals at Azria and Bruffett were efficient, organized, and provided me with a comprehensive plan as to how they would handle my case. I was thrilled with the outcome - they were able to plea my case to a much more reasonable fine.

I can't thank them enough!

The friendly and courteous team at Azria & Bruffett made dealing with my ticket a breeze. I was quickly able to resolve the issue with a defensive driving course (the refresher helped) and I was able to put it behind me to become more mindful on the road.
Thanks again for all of your assistance.

I highly recommend this law firm. They took care of a speeding ticket I received in Liverpool quickly and easily without needing much at all from me which is huge being a full time working mom. They saved me money in insurance increases, points on my license, and my peace of mind. They were quick to respond back with any questions I had and handled my case professionally as well as promptly! I will definitely use them again for any future issues.

David Bruffett is an amazing lawyer. I had trouble finding someone in Syracuse who I could trust and who was out for my best interest and not just chasing dollar signs. Once I contacted Mr. Bruffett, I immediately felt a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. I had 6 outstanding tickets and he was able to get 2 dismissed and the rest all reduced to non moving violations with extremely reasonable fines. I could not recommend him enough. Whether you have simple speeding tickets or a suspended license charge, Azria & Bruffett's Firm is truly the place to go. Thanks again David.
Best regards, Casey N.
