Indiana Counts New York Convictions on Indiana Records
Indiana and New York are both participating members of the
Driver License Compact,
an interstate agreement designed to exchange information concerning license suspensions and traffic violations of non-residents.
The Equivalent Point Rule: If an Indiana driver is convicted of a traffic infraction in a New York court, the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will add the conviction to that driver’s Indiana record. Furthermore, Indiana will evaluate the New York offense and assess points to your license based on the equivalent Indiana traffic code.
