Virginia Will Assign Demerit Points in VA for New York Convictions

The Virginia DMV will assign demerit points to your record for traffic convictions incurred in other states. Additionally, New York traffic convictions may cause your Virginia license to be suspended. In addition to the demerit points there are also the following considerations:

NY Driver Responsibility Assessments for 6 or more points - 21 mph over the posted limit is 6 points.
Potential insurance premium increase.
